This policy explains how My Plant Logbook handles information when you use the app or website. We collect only what is needed to run your account, sync your journal and support the optional community features.
Information you provide
- Account information: your email address, sign-in provider identifier and optional display name.
- Journal content: plant names, photographs, identification details, dates, locations and field notes that you choose to enter.
- Community content: only entries you deliberately mark for community sharing. Exact locations and personal notes are excluded; you may provide a separate approximate public location.
Camera, photos and location
The app requests camera or photo-library access only when you choose to take or select a plant photograph. It does not continuously access your camera. The app does not automatically collect GPS coordinates. Location is free text that you decide whether to enter.
How information is used
We use information to authenticate you, store and synchronise your logbook, show entries on your devices, calculate storage allowances, display entries you intentionally share with the community, prevent misuse and provide support.
Service providers
Cloud account data and private photo storage are provided through Supabase. Cloudflare delivers and protects the web version. Apple may process information when you use Sign in with Apple. These providers process data under their own terms and security practices.
Sharing and sales
We do not sell personal information and do not use third-party advertising trackers. Other signed-in members can see only the community fields you choose to share. Your private entries are protected by account-based access rules.
Retention and deletion
Your cloud journal remains until you delete individual records or your account. You can permanently delete your account inside the app under Account → Delete account. This removes your account, cloud journal records and stored plant photographs. Copies may remain briefly in encrypted service backups before routine expiry.
Children and families
Young nature explorers must use the app with a parent or guardian. Children should not create an account independently or enter a home address, school address or other sensitive location. The app must never be used as a reason to taste or handle an unknown plant.
Your choices
You can keep every entry private, remove photographs, edit or delete journal entries, sign out, or delete your full account. Device camera and photo permissions can also be changed in iPhone or Android settings.
Questions
Visit the support page for account, privacy and safety help. This policy may be updated as the app gains new features; the effective date above will change when it does.
